What the law covers
Illinois' fertility mandate has been in effect since 1991 and was substantially expanded in 2021. The updated law removed previous discriminatory requirements, expanded coverage limits, and broadened the definition of infertility to be more inclusive of single individuals, same-sex couples, and those with medically-caused infertility.
